I used to be a painter too, but I never archived the level of photorealism! But then there's still the question - why did you start to create pictures in the first place?

its faster than painting XD i love it to walk around i love the "shlonk" from the shutter/mirror its quiet in the darkroom i can hear my fav music @ digital postproduction
its like to conserve the present, the moment, the time, the beauty, the spirit of now...
It's a beautiful world, I would like to document it. I also have images in my head I would like to create, I hope to some day create photographs of these images.
Ahhhh well... I've always taken pictures, starting from when I was a kid, either having to do ye olde family snapshots on trips or grabbing the point and shoot to take a photo of the cats or the dogs. We did a LOT of travelling when I was younger so I got used to taking photos of all sorts of crap in all sorts of places, so I think it kind of grew out of that. It also runs in the family, my great grandfather was an avid photographer. He was like a Ukranian Sally Mann
Plus you know, the whole thing about capturing a moment in time on a frame of celluloid, that we can snatch what we see out of thin air onto a small strip of plastic... that still totally blows my mind
I love being in the mindset to be aware of everything around me, and to see as the camera sees images.
I really only shoot for myself, but when someone else likes what I see, I'm even happier.
Also, if you take a moment each day to watch the sun come up or how the light falls on things, I think you will find additional beauty instead of all this dark shit going on which the media feeds on and feeds us on.

Photography is the study of light, and the relationship between the creator and the subject. The camera, is simply the rude interruption between the two - Me
Well, actually I always wanted to be a filmmaker. But since cameras were so damn expensive back when I was 16 (now I'm 28, and it seems so long ago) and I had trouble finding actors or writing coherent scenarios, I decided to first try it out with photography, in order to learn the basics of framing, composition and to try out some other ideas. And in the end I never went back to video again, although actually I've been thinking much about a project recently...

Yeah film is pretty interesting too, I like the timelessness of photography though. If you start your film prject, be sure to share it here!
